It’s so weird to get kids in the habit of this. Lazy parents. I know 3yo’s who still use pouches FFS

Sounds unsanitary. Which such a small opening, you can’t adequately clean them and the cleaning attempts will leave behind water and they won’t fully dry out

I’m the PP. If the kid was going to eat it almost immediately, then we wouldn’t do much to keep it cool. But we sometimes slipped them into an insulated bottle holder with an ice pack if we were going to be out longer or were going on a car ride.

In terms of brands, we used the WeeSprout ones that another poster linked to for our older child and have used the Haaka ones for our younger child. The WeeSprout ones were great for oatmeal, which our child used to eat in the car on the way to preschool.

+1

We use them for years and they were great. I would fill them with homemade purées or store-bought stuff. It worked great. They just need to be refrigerated.

We used them for years. For babies and toddlers, then for yogurt in packed lunches for preschoolers. Much less messy and no need for a spoon with lunch. For babies, I would puree and freeze ice cubes of baby food (beans, veggies, fruits mostly), then could fit maybe two cubes in a pouch to defrost and serve. You have to rinse them immediately to keep dried food from getting stuck in the pouch, and then I washed them on the top rack of the dishwasher. Store/refrigerate like you would regularly for whatever food is in them.

I liked these ones (round edges are easier to rinse), but the ones with the flat bottom are easier to fill. For filling, frozen cubes of baby food are easy obviously, but greek yogurt I would just glop in with a small spoon then rinse off the outside if any spilled.

Not unless they will be eaten within two hours.

I could never get ours clean enough after a few uses. Hope the tech has gotten better!

We use them mostly for yogurt and applesauce. I just felt bad about buying these items in pouches because we generated so much packaging waste.

Yes, they have to be refrigerated. Consider it the same as a baggie that you are storing food in. The factory-sealed pouches are different.

I basically tried to fill them with anything that had been a popular flavor in spoon form or in another pouch. For the most part, she refused them and would only use the single use pouches. My sister's kiddo does not have this issue.

Title says it all but mostly I have questions about recipes and food safety (do they have to be refrigerated at all times?) that kind of stuff
