Your 2nd option is to withdraw and re-enroll. I do know a few kids who were principal placed at their inbound schools (Einstein) after going through the choice process and being placed at other schools.


Do you think it’s likely that the Blair principal would make a special exception for my daughter? Has she ever enrolled any students before from doing this? I’m sorry if this comes off as rude, but I just don’t want to take any risks anymore and I’m not sure if this idea will work.

The people at the consortium choice office (the people in charge of enrollment/transfers/etc) told me that since I'm requesting a change within the DCC, that I would ave to wait until January for the change of choice process. I don't understand why they're making it so complicated, especially because Blair is my home school, but nonetheless I'm just confused what my next steps have to be to ensure she goes there for the next school year.


I think they're right, though. Since she is already enrolled as a student at a DCC high school, there is a once-a-year process for requesting a transfer to another DCC school.


So she’s not guaranteed to go to her home school?

Will withdrawing her have any repercussions? Like, would it mean she's treated as a new MCPS student when I go to re-enroll her (new student ID, etc), or would it say she dropped out of high school on her transcript? Would my parentvue account be deleted too after I unenroll her, because technically she wouldn't be an MCPS student? Also, would I have to fill out a homeschooling form or something like that when I go to unenroll her, or can I just unenroll her without any explanation/filling out other forms? Sorry for so many questions, I'm just not sure how to go about this, the whole idea is foreign to me. Thank you

My daughter is a rising 10th grader and wants to switch to Blair next year. We submitted a COSA and it was denied, so we moved into a place in the Blair zone. I was always told that you have the right to go to a school if you reside in that zone. But, since we moved after the required 15 days for an appeal on the COSA, they wouldn't listen to me once I finished the paperwork to change her address and said I had to wait until next year to submit a new appeal when she's a rising 11th grader. What do I do? Am I not allowed to submit a separate appeal? She can't wait until January to change schools, this is absurd.
