I would hate to see them have a stadium in DC. Football stadiums are one of the worst returns on investment for a municipality, especially an urban one. A giant stadium surrounded by parking lots and used 8 times a year is a colossal waste of land.

Anyone who thinks the team should have a stadium in DC should not be taken seriously.

They stay where they are. Land is expensive and if the government is going to just give it away there are other public uses that most people would prefer

I would hate a stadium in my neighborhood. I live in Capitol Hill and am very strongly against a stadium at RFK. What a waste of a prize piece of land and opportunity to benefit the residents of DC (not a slightly better billionaire than the last one). Honestly I could care less if the Commanders left DC. And for the record I also grew up in DC.

Right, that's what is confusing about the premise. Are the Commanders considering moving to another city? I don't care if they do but didn't realize that was on the table, especially since they have been touting the local ties of the new owner group.

The Commanders can't "leave" DC because the Commanders are not in DC, they are in Landover, which is in Prince George's County, Maryland.

Any scenario where taxpayer money is used for the commanders in any way.

There is no land in most of the city unless you either clean up a superfund site (and if you're paying for it, why give it to a team) or give up parkland.

First, that's a huge amount of space that could be filled with houses, apartments, restaurants, playing fields, schools, shops - basically an entire neighborhood. In contrast, a stadium is used 8 days a year for three hours.

I have no problem with them leaving and one million percent would not want that stadium anywhere near me.

I think they should really be at RFK. If I lived near it, I would welcome it. I don't want them where I currently live because there's no space for a stadium here.
