Don’t forget the phaser of “Star Trek” fame, OP. It obviously is short for “phased energy rectification" – named for the process of turning stored energy into an energy beam without an intermediate transformation.

Seriously. If you are American, the noun is advice. Please stop asking people for advise.

People, come on, do better. I see this every single day on DCUM. When you say, "that wouldn't phase me" or "my child was not phased by it," the word you are looking for is faze: verb. disturb or disconcert (someone).
Not phase!
phase
noun
1. a distinct period or stage in a series of events or a process of change or development.
2. each of the aspects of the moon or a planet, according to the amount of its illumination, especially the new moon, the first quarter, the full moon, and the last quarter.
verb
1. carry out (something) in gradual stages.
2. PHYSICS adjust the phase of (something), especially so as to synchronize it with something else.
