Half-day camp in her sport for a week

My kid turned 12 this summer and did:
Girl Scout sleep away camp
rock climbing camp
a camp at the local animal shelter

She also did a 2 week learn-to-crew program, but that was just early mornings, not an all day activity.

Last year she did a Virginia Outside camp and loved it. She would have happily done it again but it didn't fit our schedule.

The key for her was to find camps where she was in the middle or bottom of the age range. The camps that were 6-12 were too young for her even though she could technically still attend.

Try Camp Jupiter in Rock Creek Park if they are a fan of mythology. Your post made me think of it becuase my kid said this year there was a DnD rotation option.

Also where are you located?

We are in MD and there is a camp that my kids are in this week that is a 9:00-4:00 5-day day camp in Crofton. This week's camp is for grades 6-8 and includes Minecraft coding.

Last week, they were at a sleepaway camp on the West River (just south of Annapolis). It was a Bible camp, but they broke the group into smaller groups. My kids were in a camp for grades 6-8 focused on gaming and they played a lot of D&D at this camp.

My older kid stayed interested in outdoor-adventure type day camps until he was 12 or 13. Virginia Outside for mountain biking or outdoor survival, Fish and Explore for kayaking, that sort of thing.

Younger one isn't as interested, just doing summer swim team plus a couple of sleep-away camps.

My 12-year-old did a two-week day camp (9-4) at George Mason this summer and loved it. Age range was specifically for middle school. They have camps on different topics - film, theater, art, coding. I thought it was very well done.

What do they like to do? What are they doing this summer? A soccer camp might be perfect for your child, but would be he!! for my child, or vice versa for a different kind of camp.

Although too late for this year, but planning ahead for next year. What are good camp options for 11-12 year olds?
