You need a 504 or IEP to get scaffolding.

I suggest investigating Fairfax SEPTA. The have a 2E committee. SEPTA is trying to get TJ to a better place regarding 2E. Plus, read the 2E Handbook to learn what FCPS has said they do.

My son is 2e and has been diagnosed with moderate/severe ADHD (and a few other less intense issues) since he was 5. As a result of these challenges and opportunities, he's been homeschooled since 4th grade, and doesn't have an IEP or 504 plan. He's now rising 8th and considering applying to TJ. Will he qualify for the experience factor of having special needs, or do you need to have an IEP for TJ to recognize it? If it matters, he was diagnosed by a psychiatrist and a developmental pediatrician, and takes medication. I'm an alumna myself and I think he would be able to manage the workload with appropriate scaffolding and time management strategies.
