Just back from Paris and I saw very little of the dress and sneaker thing (which dominated in London). Maybe it was so hot that sandals ruled the day. I just wore shorts snd hideous orthopedic new balances to push the stroller 25k steps per day and changed for dinner. Too hot to walk in a long skirt.

I think for sneakers, you will be fine with any reasonably fashionable sneaker in white or maybe white and black. I would not get AF1s or Converse just because someone says “everyone” is wearing them in Europe. I personally don’t find either of those that comfy.

For comfort, I’d go with Vejas, Reebok Club Cs, or New Balance.

For sandals, you can’t go wrong with Birks or a similar leather sandal. Mephisto also makes some. You could also do a sports sandal like Teva or Sorel (do NOT do Keens, they are hideous), though if you are concerned about fitting in, I’d lean toward leather and more of a Birk styling, as Europe has less athleisure generally.

Agree do not wear these.

Just returned from French Riviera and Provence and noticed lots of Birkenstocks, even on the French. I rotated those with cute white Madewell sneakers. I would not feel good about walking around in Keen sandals.

Converse. Everywhere in Western Europe.

I've worn my white Vans high tops all over Italy and Portugal, and they look great with skirts and dresses. My friend has loved wearing her Birkenstocks.

We’re headed to Paris in a few weeks and I am in need of new walking shoes. I plan to wear skirts and dresses around. Any recommendations for cute, comfortable sneakers or other shoes (sandals, flats, Birks)?
