Subject: Rust or dirt on the car door edge guard?
I noticed on my driver door and rear left door, either dirt or rust under that tape-like door edge guard.
It's like this stuff.

I can't tell if it's rust or just dirt. It's only on those doors and not the other two.
Should I try to use Goof Off and remove the edge guard, get some touch up paint, and sand the area? It's literally just the size of the edge guard.
Virtually invisible and cleanly removable. But someone on Amazon noted having a difficult time removing the stuff. It's just adhesive. There are instructions on the 3M site to use a hair dryer to soften it to remove it.
