What DC area radio stations do you recommend for more contemporary Adult Top 100 music without too much talk or ads?

If I use Spotify or my own downloaded music I tend to listen to the same old same old. I want to let the DJ do the thinking and hear some new artists.

I also don't want to fiddle with phones or buttons while cooking.

I'm the WBJC poster--rereading your post--you are exactly the customer for satellite radio via smart speaker. That is how I listen and that is exactly why I listen. I don't want to pick and choose and I want to hear from hosts with more musical knowledge than me. Plus no commercials. Also Radio Swiss Jazz and Radio Swiss Classic are excellent via streaming and no commercials either.

By total accident I discovered WBJC, which is based in Baltimore. It has amazing classical programming and it's available via streaming as well.

Not "Pop" and not necessarily always contemporary but the music on WPFW 89.3 can be pretty good and you'll get a wide rage/mix that you aren't going to get anywhere else(jazz, blues, reggeae, latin, R&B, funk) - worth checking out if you are looking to branch out of your "box".

Having said that, and although I lean left, their politics/messaging can be extreme so I tune in when it's music, not so much politics(weekends is all/mostly music, I think):

101.1
95.5
99.5
94.7

You will not escape ads if you listen to the radio though.

This isn’t helpful for you, but I mostly listen to SiriusXM 90s/00s/10s stations. I still have a soft spot for EITM on DC101, though.

I listen to 97.1 even though they might talk/have more ads than you wanted.
