I think it is reasonable to be worried because these new folks are not the GOP of the past, they are grifters and liars and weirdos.

Dissolving agencies is hard but they can move them to Oklahoma and they certainly are going to fire career employees they feel are impeding them (even if “impeding them” just means telling them what they are doing is illegal)— that is the whole point of schedule F.

I’m worried enough that I will not be seeking another federal job until after the 2024 election at the earliest. I want my seniority and good will if things do change dramatically.

I’m at a regulatory agency that both sides like. We’ve fared much better under republican administrations than democrats. Obama’s was probably the worst- loss of funding and no pay raises in like 8 years. Bush was very kind to us, including in his rhetoric.

I’m apolitical so I’m not saying this because I like republicans more.

Yes. I'm worried about a DT victory. The 4 years under him in my field were rough and if he won reelection I planned to look for another job. Its been hard for my area to rebuild over the past couple years and it would suck to be kicked back down. So yes I worry about my specific niche area, although I'm not really worried about having a job overall. I am also worried significantly about loosing things like good health care and retirement benefits. I'm in a career that is much higher paid in the private sector so those benefits help compensate me for the low pay. It will get very hard to retain good workers if all the benefits of being a fed go away.

If he wins, I think Fed jobs will be the least of our problems.

I will only worry if we also have a Republican Congress, then there will be no check on DJT’s power. He can’t eliminate agencies or even build his wall without Congress on his side.

People need to read about some of the insanity the R’s are plotting if they take back the WH. Eliminating independent agencies, mass converting everyone to Schedule F, etc.

No. My agency isn’t really affected by the sitting administration except for funding decisions.

I have worked under several administrations. The party does not correspond to much. It depends where you work. Some agencies are always more favored under one administration than another and you’ll talk to people who will tell you it was worst under Bush or Obama, depending on the situation at their agency at that time.

Your job is to remain apolitical at work and do your job to the best of your ability, given the resources you have in the best interest of the American public. Leaving helps nothing, does it? It can be easier to work at an agency that isn’t that politically divisive. Like, if you work for CFPB you will always be anxious.

If you’re looking to leave because you’re worried about the potential reclassification of your job….which loses security over the job you are thinking to leave?

Anyway. It’s up to you…..Federal service isn’t for everyone.

During the last administration, it was quite worrisome to hear people in power constantly attacking federal employees and the deep state, and it just fees like that will be on turbocharge in the next administration. Interested if others are looking for non-gov jobs already. I love my coworkers and my agency, but I just don't know if I can take another four years of this. I also worry that they'll reclassify a lot of our jobs so we lose civil service protections.
