Agree with pp. This is the new reality. 700k near Tysons will not get you a SFH that's not deemed a tear down in your eyes.
You have to compromise somewhere. For some ppl, they buy fixer uppers/smaller/older in their desired location. For some they buy further out to get the house they want. We did the former and renovated after a few years.
