I live in San Francisco (which I realize is not at ALL as conservative as DC) and the only men I ever see at the two nail salons I go to are always straight. Occasionally they are the husband/boyfriend of a woman there, but most often they're in there by themselves. Just ask for a basic manicure, no color (unless you want to level up Harry Styles style).

I've seen plenty of men coming into the nail salon I go to. Nothing wrong with a man taking care of his feet and hands!

Why pay for someone to cut your nails though it takes less than 30 seconds to cut my nails?

I go to a fitness studio favored by gay/genderqueer men, and some of them have much more elaborate manicures than I do--long nails, shimmery polish, bejeweled nails. It looks kind of cool! But I don't actually know any men that just get regular manicures.

I think this is normal, but not common, if that makes sense.

I’ve often seen male customers in the nail salon at Montgomery mall.

This DH gets manicure every 7-10 days no polish and pedicure every 2-3 weeks.

We typically do a day date of lunch and pedicures together.

Sure, lots of men get no-polish manicures or pedicures.

That's great OP, do it! Ask for your nails to be shaped, that's what you mean by filing.

Yes totally normal OP. I'm an assistant to an executive - I keep his calendar, book his appts etc., he has a regular standing appt at a nail salon and hair salon. They know what you need when you walk in, nail trim, file, cuticle clean up, hand massage. They will ask if you want your nails buffed, which is an add-on fee of around $5.

My husband gets no polish pedicures in the summer and it's money well spent. It's fine, just tip well and no one will think twice.

My coworker from LA said he used to go to nail salons in LA. I think it's crazy but he saw nothing wrong. But if you want to try, it's your money.

Of course! No one judges a well groomed man. Get a manicure AND pedicure! Your feet will thank me later.

Many places offer "mens" manicures, basically all the shaping but no polish. I drag my husband with my all the time. So yes, walk in, and just say you want a manicure with no polish. If you dont want any of the add ons (parafin wax, massage, etc) you can specify a basic manicure.
