Low performers are let go without a raise or bonus. That makes sense to me.

Not crazy. Calculated and not in great faith. But thats how they operate. Paying it out so late is weird and sets up some of this dynamic.

My current (somewhat new company) to my surprise does the annual raise and bonus at same time each year.
The cutoff is 9-30 of previous year. It is prorated.
But to my surprise they pay it out July 31 each year.
We laid off someone last week who started October 2021. He missed cut off for July 2022 bonus and raise and let go before July 2023 bonus and raise.
Is it just me, but is that crazy? We do annual reviews in June and low performers are let go pre raise and bonus. Average workers don’t get bonus, but get raise. Above average get raise and bonus
