We were outside most of the day yesterday and we are all fine. I don’t want to see outdoor things closed/canceled because of this.

They should simply make practice optional on these days.

I’m comfortable with swim team practice for my kid in this air quality. If others are not, they should be able to easily opt out.

What do you mean by "get used to" wildfires? Not take precautions? Send kids to exercise outdoors when smoke particulate levels are unhealthy? This isn't something that people's lungs adapt to; air pollution increases childhood respiratory diseases and shortens life expectancies. We see this in places with chronic high pollution levels; our kids aren't somehow immune to this.

You're crazy if you think one persons habits will stop wildfires in Canada.

PP isn’t crazy, they’re just really, really dumb.

What's the alternative? Being surprised all over again every time this happens? Air quality is going to be bad every time the wind comes from the northwest, this summer, and I doubt next summer will be any different.

Eventually all the trees will burn down, right? Then take a while to grow back?

I don't eat meat, have a small non-SUV car, and bike for at least half my trips. On Code Orange and Code Red days, I'm still breathing bad air.

I think I passed you in my truck on the way to the butchers.

I think this is a good policy and we should be used to it. DC's swim team did not cancel practices yesterday and I think that was a mistake.

They should. We made the mistake of spending a lot of time outdoors yesterday and we are feeling it. This is not healthy.
