Get it corrected.

I find it super annoying - my daughters birth certificate had an error, as did my nieces and a couple friends. All Sibley births. Not sure if the errors are Sibley or DC but it’s ridiculously common. And yes our paperwork we submitted was correct!

For my daughter, the birth time was what was wrong, so we did not bother to correct that. But for a name, I would.

I would get it corrected. It might never matter but who knows. I've seen people loose out of jobs because of delays in getting security clearances for these types of no big deal issues.

I don't see why you wouldn't get it corrected??

I would get it corrected because down the line it will, most likely, be noted and you will have to correct and then it might mean a much longer wait.

Ok, just chiming in to say that DC also messed up our son’s birth certificate too!! DH and I were born in different states, and the certificate lists both of us as having been born in a third state that neither of us has ever lived in. We’re going to get it corrected, but it’s a huge pain because we need official copies of both of our birth certificates, for which we both need to get forms notarized, and then we need to get the birth certificate correction form itself notarized.

Get it corrected. I had to get my oldest kids' corrected. Weirdly enough her birth certificate didn't list a mother!!! Only listed her father (we're married). My health insurance refused to put her on my health insurance since my name wasn't listed. Thanks Virginia! All that work of delivering a baby and then I wasn't even on the birth certificate.

My relative never got his corrected and had numerous issues over the years with joining the military, passports and more.

Mother's maiden name is still used by some companies today as a security question. I don't know if that will change by the time your kid is an adult.

My mom is an immigrant and she translated her name into the English alphabet, but she wasn't consistently using the same translation. Some versions have a K instead of a C, etc. It's a but of a headache. Nothing I can't work around but I wish she had been consistent.

Sorry me again - but the mistake is actually that I listed my married name as the maiden name - the reverse of what I said.

He has also received passports.

I would get it corrected.

I have needed to get copies of my kids’ birth certificates for a variety of reasons, and they only give it to me after checking my ID to make sure it matches. I wouldn’t want to run into trouble!
