Jellyfish start to arrive late June depends on water temperature. You can see NOAAs sea nettles predictions.

So it doesn't always have tons of jellyfish.

This is OP. What is gross about Colonial Beach? I have never been there.

The beach is much narrower and the sand is packed much harder than a normal beach. Also, the water is the Potomic so not an ocean but a river. There are also a lot more bugs. It doesn’t feel like a real beach to me. More like sitting at a bay. You also lose the sea breeze so it’s always so hot.

It’s part river and part bay. That’s why it’s gross. It’s not just that it feels like being on a bay, It literally is.

If you are just looking to rent a house with a beach you can go to the Northern Neck on Western Shore of the CHESAPEAKE BAY. Places like White Stone, Reedville, etc., Those areas do not have public beaches but they are less than 3 hours from Arlington
