Is this supposed to be a gotcha? I don’t think anyone said he was infallible, and he was definitely a product of his time. Oddly, Mexico requested the program. And you can see how businesses created the whole issue of illegal southern border immigration; some things never change.

And for those being pedantic about the verb to “miss:” I was born far too late to have experienced Eisenhower, but I did experience the GOP wrecking balling everything every single time they got power. I miss a time when the GOP genuinely seemed to care about America. I don’t think that’s true anymore.

Under Eisenhower, the rich and big corporations were taxed much more appropriately than they are now (higher tax rates). CEOs weren't making astronomical salaries compared to their workers. Eisenhower tamped down out-of-control military spending and balanced it more with domestic spending. He invested in American infrastructure (interstate highway system), science, research and engineering (he founded NASA), and higher education. He passed civil rights legislation. He made many positive improvements to America.

But in the last few decades, Republicans have reversed course and have gone against every single one of those things, dragging us backward.
