Subject: Urgent! Should I buy an instantpot?
Great for staples like dried beans, hard boiled eggs as well as lots of easy recipes.

Don’t do it. I caved after years of hearing how great they are. I tried countless recipes and found they were not as flavorful as what I made on the stovetop or in the oven. And I had difficulty converting my usual crockpot recipes like chili. We aren’t huge soup people but I think if we were we would have found it more useful. I did love it for hard boiled eggs but it takes a lot of space for eggs so I donated it.

I like making bone broth in mine when I don’t have time to simmer it on the stove for two days. Ribs are so succulent when pressure cooked as well.
I loathe crock pots but would say the instant pot isn’t really great at slow cooking. I only use the pressure cook feature.

I resisted this trend for years but now I love mine. I have the a Duo with an air fry function and I use that most frequently. It’s like a microwave but better. I like having the Instantpot functions as well. I make chickpeas and beans in mine frequently. The are fast and come out more flavorful in the Instantpot than on the stove. I have also used for soups and broth/stock. Again, more concentration of flavor with Instantpot.
The biggest barrier to using Instantpot is having to learn a new kind of cooking. I have to look up cooktimes and fluid levels every time I make something new, because recipes I’ve learned over the years don’t translate directly. If you are someone who enjoys tinkering, moving to IP shouldn’t be a problem. If you find it hard to start new habits, then you might end up not using it.

Easy meals: soups, stews, braised chicken thighs with flavoring of your choice, curries. Many of the same things you'd do in your slow cooker, but it doesn't take all day. Contrary to the name, they are not INSTANT, but they'll be done with excellent results in 20-60 minutes vs 6-10 hours.
It's more of a scheduling change than introducing new recipes, in my experience. I love mine: get home from work, put something in, take kids to practice, it's ready to eat when we get home. No need to think about it before I leave for work in the morning.

No. You already have two machines that do similqr things. I dont like most stews so i use the instant pot to steam beets, make hard boiled eggs, rice, broth from frozen meats.

Do you love hearty stews and meat that falls off the bone with zero effort? Then yes.
I use mine to make pulled meats (pork, chicken, beef) and stews, all the time. You can cook meat from frozen. You can use the keep warm function after it cooks so it keeps the food at a safe temp like a crockpot. I also make a lot of legume soups and stews with dried soaked beans and it is a massive time saver.
Melissa Clark has a great cookbook for instant pots.

I already have a rice cooker and a slow cooker. What else can the instant pot do for me that I can’t do? I am very lazy with cooking and want minimal prep and hands on cooking. What kind of easy meals can I make?
Need to decide urgently before sale ends today. Thank you all!
