We live in CP with a middle schooler -- but we lived here when the kids were born. Neighbors are friendly. Most buildings have a listserv or other online forum and some have social events.
Most of the neighborhood kids we know go to public school (which is a function of the fact that our kids are in public and therefore that's who we know, I guess).

We're friendly with our neighbors and the adults socialize, but our kids have never made friends with the other kids on our block because they all go to different private schools and prefer to hang out with their school friends. That said, it's such a great neighborhood for young teens to be independent -- easy to walk to stores, go to Dupont/Georgetown by bus or scooter, etc.

Our block is friendly, but the kids don’t hang out together. They go to 7-8 different schools and spend most of their time at activities or with school friends.

What part of Cleveland Park are you looking at (east/ west of Connecticut, closer to Wisconsin, close to Hearst, etc)? Are you planning to send your kids to private school?

Once the kid has a cell phone/social media, everyone knows everyone. My middle schooler is in private but knows kids at most of the other privates, as well as Deal and Hardy.

Honestly I'd only move there to move to a condo or one of the few rowhomes. The stand-alone homes residents mostly seem to mingle with other families in their private schools.

I love CP, but I would wonder if it is a kid-friendly place. I would think that folks are so wealthy that the kids don't know one another bc they are all at various privates.

Tell me what it was like to move to Cleveland Park with middle-school and upper elementary aged kids. Were you able to meet other people/families easily (are neighbors friendly)? Do kids walk around and play outside a lot? These two aspects are important to me in a community.
