That would be my choice and I tell my kids the same but right now my siblings and I are trying to figure out what to do with our mother. I am surprised no one has experience seeking out cheaper care abroad.

Are you married? If not, would you marry me? I want to live in Canada!

If you may run out of money, I don't think you are crazy for considering it

That place sounds so humane except I’m sure you’d have to be Dutch and there’s an enormous waitlist for I think under 200 spots. It’s also heavily subsidized by the government.

No one lives close so to me it seems like the sane thing. Go across the country or go to Latin America.

Seriously no one does this? Or send patent back to home country where cost of living is cheaper?

Understand about the more bang for your buck, but I would think it is important for there to be frequent visits from family, which would impossible if they live in a different country.

Anyone moved a loved one with dementia/Alzheimer’s to a memory care facility abroad - Thailand, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico (ok so not technically abroad), etc.?

Parent is paying around 11,000 a month in a not so great facility. I met someone on a plane who moved their parent to a memory care facility abroad that specialized in treating foreigners and top of the line care was $3000-3500 a month. They spend $2,000 a month visiting once a month (different family members take turns going or multiple family members go). Said it was amazing the individualized care they were getting compared to the care they got here.

Anyone have any info?
