I read it for the first time this year and absolutely loved it. I'm going to read Grapes of Wrath next.

Same! Thanks OP for the nudge!
I don't know about Grapes of Wrath now that I'm a mom though...

I like this one too.
Try Grapes of Wrath next if you haven’t read it yet.

I read this as a teen and thought it was wonderful, definitely the best of Steinbeck.

Great book. I worked through all the Steinbeck novels and moved on to F. Scott Fitzgerald. He's buried in Rockville -- I visit his grave on the anniversary of his death every year, as do many others, and leave a pen.

Oh yes. It was the book that made me fall in love with Steinbeck's writing. I read it before the classics Grapes of Wrath, Of Mice and Men and Cannery Row. Loved all of them, but East of Eden is my favorite because it was the first. Such an amazing writer.

It’s very, very good. I think it has one of the best endings of a book, ever. Final page is amazing. I was very moved by it.

DH - is that you? Maybe you can condescend to me about audiobooks too. It doesn’t quite ruin my enjoyment of them, but i appreciate the effort.
I assume that people who crap on audiobooks have never actually listened to one.

Why did I wait until I was 59 years old to read this book? I am thoroughly enjoying it. It's like a long soap opera, but I'm invested in all of the characters.
That's all. For those who have not read it. I recommend it. I am listening to it on the Libby app.
