I had jury duty last month. Wore a T-shirt, cardigan, leggings, and sneakers. Most people were similarly casual. A few older gentlemen were in suits. There was definitely a correlation between how professionally someone was dressed, and how quickly they were eliminated by the defense attorneys

FFS there is no need to buy new clothes for jury duty. It’s a public obligation.

Wear the F the Police tshirt. You might get cut quickly!

No, don't buy new clothes! You might not even get picked for a jury - but even if you do, you don't need to be dressed like a lawyer. Some people will wear leggings and t-shirts, some will wear more biz casual. It's basically whatever people default to in their normal M-F life.

The PP above is right that you want layers, most of all. It might get very hot, it might be freezing cold. Be ready for that.

Anything you want that isn't revealing or has curse words. Bring layers if you get cold easily.

They will not send you away if you wear shorts. Don’t wear booty shorts but as long as you look respectable it’s fine.

Last time I had jury duty i wore jeans, boots, and a sweater. Nothing ripped or dirty or super tight or revealing, just look clean and neat. Skip the workout wear. Definitely no need to buy new clothes.

That's funny, I guess the rules are different in different places. I'm the poster above you and there are always tons of people in jeans and t-shirts when I go. More jeans and Tshirts than not, actually.

Not where I am - MoCo/MD. Most are dressed semi casual but not too informal. Where are you?

I get called for Jury duty about every three years or so. You don't need to buy anything new. You'll see some people in sweatpants and hoodies and others in business attire and you'll see everything in between. Whatever you pull out of your closet will be fine. Just don't wear an "F the police" t-shirt or anything like that. lol Wear something comfortable and bring a good book, there's a good chance you'll be doing a lot of sitting around and waiting.

Yes, you can wear that. Bring a sweater/cardigan - it may be cold. Closed-toe shoes rather than flip flops.

I received the letter for jury duty next month. It's just one day per week(for the entire month.) I'm supposed to call a number the night before and they will tell me if I need to come in or not.

I have never done jury duty before, but I'm worried about dressing appropriately. The letter says no shorts and no halter tops.
I do not work out of the home so I don't have any "business attire." I don't attend church so no "Sunday best" type of clothing either. I've also recently gained weight so a lot of my clothes don't fit right. I've pretty much been living in some super casual dresses I bought off Amazon

Will something like this be ok? I really don't want to have to buy something (in my new larger size) just for jury duty-especially since it's not even 100% certain I will have to go in.
