The cat is bored. That’s why it’s destroying things. It gave itself an activity. If you can’t keep it entertained please rehome the cat rather that mutilate it.

I got a cat tower and sprinkle catnip on it. The cats go bananas on it. They still pick at the recliner or a rug occasionally, but this tower gets 95% of their attention.

If you don’t want this cat, find someone who does rather than torture him.

Also, declawed cats are often stressed and pee on everything and is much rather have a clawed up carpet than one that smells of cat pee.

One of my cats destroys my carpets when he’s bored. If you’re going to let this cat, try to find toys your cat likes and play with him regularly (at least 10 minutes a day).

You shouldn’t own cats.
