Just wanted to chime in. I have actually had the opposite experience and perception of Dr Mayrant. She is very thorough and knowledgeable. She is the first provider who actually understands and has helped us understand our DC. She has been instrumental in assisting with IEP recommendations that has helped to reduce DC’s meltdowns and make school a better experience. Her recommendations of neuropsychological evaluations every 3 years, social skills training as well as executive function training is consistent with what our other ASD specialists ( Dev Peds, psychologist, etc) recommend. I’m pretty confident it’s standard of care.

We did not have a good experience. It was constant criticism. DC was not doing sufficient amount of therapy, in addition to therapy, DC was also supposed to go to social skills classes, I was not implementing sufficient consequences. Even though DC had reasonable grades, she recommended receive tutoring. Even though DC has a comprehensive IEP, receives wonderful support at school (how many people can say that), the IEP did not include sufficient services, we needed to obtain additional evaluations every 1 to 1 1/2 years. Appointments were mentally draining. Leaving Inova Keller was sad because they are in network and we've had a good experience with other providers there but it was just too much. Maybe in another year or so, I'll try to get back on the waiting list for another provider. Not sure what their policy is about changing providers.

Has anyone met with Dr. Stephanie Mayrant for their child? Can you please share your experience?
