Why would you invite someone back into your life who behaved in such an inappropriate manner? As PP said, she stalked you and your family; that goes beyond basic 22 year old immaturity. It is outlier behavior. You may be single but your judgment is incredibly poor.

I broke up with my ex in June but I was feeling really overwhelmed with life (got laid off and got very depressed) she just pulled the trigger without really thinking. We were together almost 4 years. Within days I regretted my decision. She took the breakup well - she simply said “Okay. I respect your decision”,so I thought she was in agreement with the breakup. A few days after breaking up I texted her asking if she wanted to have dinner. She said that would be nice but she was leaving for a work trip. I contacted her again 2 weeks later and we exchanged small talk but that was it. I thought she was no longer interested.

Backstory, we broke up the first year we were together because she was offered an amazing promotion but it was Europe. So, we decided to breakup. I started seeing a 22 year old (this part is important). She was nice but I knew she was a place holder as I was still in love with my girlfriend. About 5 months into our breakup/1 month of me seeing the other woman Covid happened and she came home. We decided immediately that we wanted to get back together, so I told the other woman I was working things out with my ex and cut things off. This really pissed her off. She found my gf online and sent her messages saying i obviously didn’t love her, posted a video of the two of us naked in bed together, started following my family and friends on social media, etc., and this went on for about a year (I’m sure she acted out because of her age and lack of maturity). Understandably, my girlfriend absolutely hated her. Fast forward to this past May, I posted pictures of us from our trip together and the 22 year old, who I removed from all of my social media, liked the picture. This made my gf upset so I blocked her.

Back to now, so about 2 weeks ago/4 weeks into the break/2 weeks since I contacted my ex last, I invited the 22 year old (now 24) over to my family’s barbecue and she brought a couple of her friends along with her. Somehow my ex saw she was there and I got the angriest messages I’ve ever gotten from her. She said it was nice to see us together again and how cute it was to see that she and my sister are following each other on social media now (she followed her on Instagram after the barbecue). Then said this was a joke and that she wasted years of her life and she can’t wait to hang out with *insert ex’s name* when I get back in town. Now, she used to be engaged to him but called it off and he kept trying to get her back the entire we were together, so I was always worried about him and didn’t care for him at all, so I’m sure that’s why she said him.

Now my question is:

1. Was I wrong here? I am single. Also, this girl has a boyfriend now so nothing is going on.
2. Do you really think she meant it when she said she would go see her ex again or was she just blowing hot air?

also, I only keep referring to her by her age to keep track of who is who…
