NYU itself has risen a lot (#25 vs #18 Columbia), but NYU Stern has been very strong in the industry.
One of the top programs.

Here is another example where per capita data is semi-worthless. Michigan is #4 on this list but virtually all of its students chosen come from the Ross School of Business. Ross has 1400 undergraduates. Michigan, as a whole has over 32K.

Assuming that this is regarding undergraduate--not MBA--school, NYU Stern is better for one seeking a career in finance, consulting, or just about any other business specialty.

I am not a recruiter, but generally (outside of specific fields I defer to others) if I saw Columbia or NYU, I'd be more impressed by Columbia.

Definitely Stern these days for finance, consulting etc.

Students at Columbia will be nicer though. It's a very low bar, but still.
