The X5 is a much larger SUV and will cost you at least $20k more than the Volvo after adding options. Demand is high for hybrids and BMW will not negotiate (doubt Volvo will either). The interiors don't compare - the BMW if optioned correctly is comfortable and luxurious. The Volvo looks nice but I felt the seats were stiff and the interior elegant but sparse in a Scandinavian way. If you live in the burbs and have a spacious garage and never have to parallel park I'd go with the BMW, but if you're in the city the Volvo will be easier to maneuver.
+1 BMW interior is very elegant and great seats! Seats are very important and being comfortable. I prefer the BMW X5 (if you have space in garage).
