Was mom going to sit in the babysitting area and do work with one kid while the other kid played?
Was mom going to sit in the general seating area/waiting area and do homework with her one kid while the other kid was in the babysitting area?
Mom had all of the worksheets and homework in maybe a backpack but no pencil?
I think that the YMCA could have been more accommodating, but mom could have been more prepared. It's not believable to me that mom could not source a pencil from anywhere in the YMCA and I wonder if mom got frustrated that she did not get anywhere with her first inquiry.
She asked the childcare attendant, who was an adult and also mentioned she had already asked the front desk. Parents aren't allowed to sit in the babysitting area. They were sitting in the general lobby area doing his school work and his pencil broke.

Mom is working out and using the childcare that is available for while she is working out. She asked the attendant there for a pencil for her kid to use. She is mad that the little childcare center at the YMCA does not have a pencil for her kid to use?
What's your role here?
Mom isn't working out, but that is not relevant. She was sitting with child and his pencil broke. The y told her pencils are a safety hazard 😆
