My dog trained my cats to go in the back yard (only) and meow at the door to be let in. One cat comes running whenever I put the leash on the dog, and I’d love to take her! But I don’t want her to get a taste for freedom and start roaming, so a backyard cat she shall be.

And yes it’s weird, but I’m 40 and don’t care what you think, darn it!

I think it’s quirky and cute! Very sweet of you to care so much and want the cat to have the safest experience. Definitely go for it!

I definitely find it weird. But I'm also in awe; how did you get your cat to do that?

I've walked my cats in the backyard.

It's weird but who cares?

I've seen it, and I love it. I think it's a smart compromise between keeping your cat inside, and letting it go out (provided your cat is content being out on a leash).

Yes, it's weird, but it's a good kind of weird.

Yes, it's weird. But it makes me so happy when I see it.

If the cats like it, I see no difference from walking a dog. And it's still better than people with their dogs in strollers

My big concern would be if a dog decided it wanted to eat one of the cats and lunged away from its owner. There is no safe way to pick up a scared cat without full body armor.

I think it's awesome. You have to train them while they're young.

My DH saw a neighbor doing this last week. I've never had a cat that like wearing a harness/leash. But there are a few that do, and I assume they are ones that were introduced to it early.

Same, but I like it better than just letting them outside. It's kind of cute.

Not weird but different.

What's weird to me is a young woman, who I saw with her cat in Walmart. She was holding her cat to her chest as she walked through the store. I thought that it would serve her right if the cat escaped from her and disappeared.

Do people do this and is it weird? It’s better than letting your cat roam free to kill stuff, no?
