Hopkins already did away with legacy - my lucky kids…not.

This is true of every school, not sure why OP is singling out one school, unless OP was not accepted (which is likely).

It is obvious living in this area. There are families where parents went to GU and therefore all the kids go. It seems very obvious in this area.

My spouse and I are both GU grads, but we aren't donors, so I'm guessing it wouldn't mean much for our kid, but maybe I'm wrong. (Not that it matters; kid doesn't want to go to school where mom and dad went.)

Know a legacy who was a subpar student at a price, did freshman year at another university, and transferred in sophomore year. Parent engaged alumni/donor and kid's older sibling who was qualified also attended. I think they care but it makes sense. Helps improve yield without them having early decision.

The Georgetown admissions director has been clear on repeated occasions that they look for not only legacy, but legacies who contribute $$. He's made it clear that they look at parents' tendencies to donate to Georgetown before giving a tip to their child. (Other schools probably also do this, but Georgetown is fairly vocal about it.)

Are there statistics on legacy admissions to GU? This was the first school I thought of after hearing about the SC decision.
