Book of Mormon was the worst for me - many of the same reasons mentioned but also in the way the main character is bullied.

I agree. Maybe the Disney shows are wholesome, but musicals written for adult audiences are usually not (and I view this as a good thing).

I wasn't offended by the religious stuff but I was surprised by how colonialist it was in its sensibilities - and not, like, self-consciously so. Unless it was subtly anti-colonialist and I missed it. Just saw BOM for the first time a few years ago - I'm sure it read differently when it first came out.

I wasn't remotely offended by CATS but I saw THAT for the first time a few months ago and it was very sexual! I live in Florida and was joking to my husband that it's probably illegal here now to take kids to see it. My husband grew up going on school trips to see CATS (we're Gen X) and I cannot even imagine that happening today - at least not in Florida.

Book of Morman is risqué for a whole lot more than satire of religion!! It’s pretty vulgar, ton of profanity, jokes about bestiality and rape, sexually explicit imagery, etc.
