Standard poodle. It was cooked, so it wasn't a raw piece.

Poodle? That's surprising.
Why?

OP again, I don't know if it matters, but he just drank a whole lot of water.

I definitely saw him biting down on it (chewing), but he ran from me so fast it was just a few seconds, and it was gone. I tried, but he runs fat when he knows I want to grab something from his mouth.

Thanks to those that said I can wait. I'm relieved to know I don't need to take him to an emergency vet tonight. I'm so new to having a dog I don't know the signs of an obstruction, but I will google it now.

Not to freak you out, but a colleague of mine had to have her dog in to an emergency vet for abdomen surgery last summer when he ate a corn cob (I don't know what size). So I'd recommend at least calling someone and/or keeping an eye on him.

Dog will be fine. Don’t worry.

Did he ask for butter?

I mean a small piece like this, not the full cob.

Just watch him for a few days for signs of a blockage.

It'll be fine. My dogs eat those every once in a while. Anything undigested will pass.

What do you mean by mini?

I've had my dog a month, he will be 2 in December. A mini corn on the cob (seasoned wth black pepper, butter, and salt) rolled off my plate. I tried to be quick, but he was quicker and ate it in seconds.

This is my first dog. His vet opens tomorrow. Can I wait and call then? Does he need to go to an emergency vet? Can I call first to find out? Does this work as it does for our emergencies? Is this an emergency? I did a quick Google search, and it said they can't break down the cob. I'm so mad at myself.
