What does highest age adjusted death rates mean

np - i assume pp meant death rates adjusted to states' population (i.e., highest population adjusted, not age adjusted). My guess

I would also think it means adjusted for the age of the population. So, for example, if your zip code is a college campus, it's going to have a lower death rate than a neighborhood full or retirees in Florida. So, before you conclude that Florida is dangerous because a lot of people die, you need to look at the average age of Floridians.

When Thomas the train needed a police escort on both sides of the train coming and going, I knew something was up. And that was a decade ago. Then the gangs of squeegee kids that would slop up your windshield and smack it down made us stop going to the Inner Harbor area. It’s pathetic.

This makes me so sad. I have great memories of visiting Baltimore about a decade ago--- not perfect back then, but it was my kids' favorite weekend destination. The last time I went and we stayed in the harbor it just felt.. sad and creepy. Like a half-abandoned shopping mall, basically.

MoCo will be relatively better because of its demographic. I am much more worried about places like Oakland CA and maybe potentially DC (but its capital status might save it from full decay).

No. Moco will never be that bad. But that doesn’t mean we won’t get worse than we are right now.

I have long connections to Baltimore and it just keeps getting worse. Every time there is some positive development it eventually just fades against all the other decay.

I’m glad I lived there last when I did. It was a relatively positive period.

Baltimore reminds me of the dead trunk of a once stately tree. There are a few green shoots that spring up here and there, but most of the material is dead — never to flourish again.

Obviously, it sucks, but like always, where you are matters a lot.

As long as crime doesn't happen to me it must not exist!

Yeah, have fun with your auto insurance bills next year after the actuaries have a field day with adjustments due to a new level of crime in the city. Doesn't matter if the thefts aren't in your hood or not. The common man always gets slammed. Car insurance in Baltimore is already eye watering...wait until it goes up 25% more due to theft risk.

What do you mean "headed"? We are already there.

289 auto thefts in a week. That is NOT a typo. Truly insane:

https://arcgisportal.baltimorepolice.org/publiccrimemap/

Brooklyn just had a mass shooting which 30 people were shot, including minors. Where is all,of the progress in Baltimore after they’ve elected such a progressive mayor and council? At this rate, no one in Baltimore will even be able to afford to legally register their cars in the city since car insurance is going to skyrocket to astronomical level due to the astronomical levels of auto theft they do nothing about. Can’t help but to feel this is exactly where MoCo is headed given the people they elect. But it’s really absurd what’s going on in Baltimore right now. Just when you thought the city couldn’t sink lower, it finds new ways to get much worse.
