You go on your own. My parents left me home alone in high school and traveled without me.

I think it is fine to go on your own...but you can still plan family trips as well. I would think young adults do not have the leave to vacation much and will also plan some trips with their own friends.

It depends on the trip.

I would ask if they want to go. Might be a good chance to bond. They are old enough that you could go your separate ways for part of the day and meet up for dinners, etc.

They likely won't have much vacation time in their early jobs. And having them to house-sit is a huge perk. Leave them home unless they really want to come. If it is to visit extended family that's different.

I am an only child and until I left the parental home at 20 for grad school, we always traveled together, my parents and I. But your family is larger, so...

No, adult kids can stay home alone. Do they have the time off and inclination to travel with you all the time? As adults living with parents, I can only imagine they would revel in the opportunity for you to be gone (at least I probably would).

You can do whatever you want. You can take some trips without them, or invite them for part of some trips, or take them on all trips.

Go on your own. My parents did this even when I was in high school (older sibs or family friends stayed with us) and there were no hard feelings. Bring them occasionally if you want but definitely go enjoy yourself!

Go on your own. You've earned it.

You don't have to, no. I'd take them sometimes, but also feel free to take trips with just you and your spouse.

With 3 kids, we really only traveled to visit family every few years. Now that kids are older, we would like to travel more. Do we need to take all the adult kids with us on every trip? Like to Europe? Or can we just leave them at home? I should add two live at home as adults (and work full time) and one is in college. If we have to wait until we have an empty nest that's at least 3 years away. I am wondering what other families do?
