Hi 16:25 here. I saw Dr. Horbach. She was outstanding and carefully reviewed my concerns with me, including the safety concerns mentioned by the PP. TVT surgery uses a different material than the sling surgery, if I recall correctly. She provided more detail to reassure me but it’s been a while. I’ve experienced 0 side effects, my symptoms have resolved and highly recommend Dr. Horbach: https://www.inova.org/doctors/nicolette-s-horbach-md.

There was a lawsuit, they were outlawed in fact but somehow they are still doing them. My mother had one and was in agony thereafter - once it is in there it cannot be removed.

I don’t think you’ll be shunted off to do kegels and if you are seek a second opinion!). I suffered from stress incontinence after two vaginal deliveries. Had a TVT sling surgery about four years ago and it is has addressed the issue. I sneeze, work out and laugh without concern. Highly recommend the procedure. The only bad part was when I had to jump up and down in an exam room with no pants on to measure how much pee came out. Humiliating but led to a solution. Good luck!

Did you have it done in the DMV? Rec’s for Dr?

Ask for a prescription to Trospium. It really helped me.

OP I am the same pee wise, but I've been diagnosed with fibroids and an enlarged uterus. One of the fibroids is sitting on my bladder. I have been recommended for a hysterectomy.

Agree with pelvic floor PT. You might be able to self-refe, depending on your insurance.

Pelvic floor PT would probably be worth trying.

You should ask about physical therapy. Ask for a referral.

I've had three children and am 40 - vaginal, c section, vaginal.

After my first I would pee when I sneeze, which felt somewhat normal. After my second I noticed urine leaking if I walked a longer period of time and I stared to think maybe this isn't normal. After my third - and I'm one year post partem - I literally pee my pants almost in full when I walk a few blocks. I cant workout in a group class without worrying how much lll pee and I wear a pad. It's affecting my life. The pee smell is awful. It doesn't feel normal.

I finally made an appt with a uro gynecologist in a few weeks. My fear is that they will just say to do kegals. I want to be prepared to ask the right questions so I get the right work-up, diagnosis and treatment plan.

Can anyone help me be an informed patient on this? What questions should I ask?
