I don't get the appeal of watermelon and feta salad. Every time I have tried to make it, the water draining from the watermelon "melts" the feta and the salad becomes a ugly mess.

Second the caprese skewers. Bite-sized, travel well, can sit out for a good amount of time.

We’re not doing a party this year, just the local fireworks, and are planning to bring a watermelon-heavy fruit salad to snack on.

I want all of the above.
But if you are going to the WASPY-iest of WASPY picnics, take "millionaire bacon." (Probably should be renamed "billionaire bacon" to account of inflation.)
Broil bacon coated with brown sugar. Maybe a little fresh ground pepper if you're so inclined.
Put it out on a tray. Hot, or room temp, is fine.
Watch it disappear before you turn around.
Leftovers (of which there are never any, but you can hoard some for yourself later) can be crumpled in a salad or in scrambled eggs.

I make creamed corn in the slow cooker that everyone loves. Shave fresh corn on the cob into the slow cooker with cream cheese, cream and milk, butter , salt pepper and sugar. One time at a party I took it to a guy was eating this on a hot dog and I said well that’s an interesting way to eat it. He said, this is my third helping, I’m just looking for new vehicles for the corn.

Balled watermelon with mint leaves. People really get excited about balled fruit.

The answer is always pigs in a blanket. Even the snootiest people eat them when they think nobody’s looking.

Looking for some new ideas for our neighborhood get together! I’m feeling uninspired.

In the past I’ve taken:
Potato salad
Ribs
Corn salad
Fruit cobbler
Deviled eggs
Cucumber salad

It’s a pretty unadventurous crowd in terms of food preferences. What is everyone taking to their potlucks?
