I would fight harder to have his middle name be his first name. DH and I agreed on two names, we agreed which name he would be called, but we disagreed on whether it should be his first name or middle name. The name he would go by is kinda unusual, ranked between 500-800 on the SSA list. The other name is in the top 20.

I wanted Unusual to be his first name since that’s what we’d call him. But DH was afraid that it was too unusual and wanted him to be able to use his Top 20 name when he’s older.

It drives me insane that I always have to correct people.

I feel like Silas and Milo exploded right at the same time.

I named my kid a little old man name and I love it! Only challenge is as a toddler/preschooler, when I call his name sternly in public, often 70-80 year old men turn around because they think I am addressing them, lol.

I don’t think so. I named my son Silas, and a few years after he was born, it started rocketing up the ranks (it was in the 300s when I named him). But at this point I can’t imagine him being named anything else, he fits his name so well! Perhaps someday he’ll be stereotyped as being younger than he is, because there are so many little ones now… We have never met one his age though.

They're names ended up fitting them perfectly

Rosemary (only goes by Rosie) is athletic, spunky, ingenious, and determined. Very Rosie the Riveter- esque.

Colleen was named before she was born and then shockingly came out a fiery red head with green eyes and freckles to two brown haired parents.

I love my kids names: Lucia, Nico(las, but never goes by full name), and Sam(uel - ditto).

My son is named for my ex. I still like the name, but not the connection.

I have four, and would absolutely change one of their names. Isabella was really NOT the way to go. The worst part is, we had other names being tossed around that were much better and we wound up giving the child who came after Isabella TWO middle names in order to use them. We should have just given Isabella one of those.
