Offering a $100 gift card or cash for a $500 or more gun is an absurd proposition. No one is going to take that deal.

No one said those would be the amounts offered.

Ok then, how much? $1,000? $2,000? $5,000?

Let’s give each violence interrupter 10 grand to go buy guns.

There’s a very simple solution to that - make all guns illegal. Then gun nutters would cease to be law-abiding. Change the law so owning a gun is a criminal offense, then crack down on the criminals that get created when they don’t disarm.

We don’t need to change the constitution. All that required is simply to ignore the USSC, which has become a political body rather than a high court. So they have forfeited their credibility. Ignore them. They’ve made their rulings - Heller, McDonald, Bruen…now let’s see them enforce it.

They can’t.

I highly doubt that many of them are poor enough that $500 or whatever the gov is paying will make a lick of difference. Not compared to how much the gun benefits them.

unfortunately studies show buybacks do nothing to reduce violence

But then the Republicans would just pump out more guns and sell them via sketchy dealers.

Gun buy backs basically end up taking in crappy, almost unusable weapons and giving people cash to go out and buy new more modern ones.

No criminal is going to trust a buy back program. Even some non criminals aren't going to trust a buy back program. No one is going to willingly give over a gun the've used for crimes or gotten in a non standard way to the government.

Why should our gov have to “buy” them back? We didn’t sell them to these criminals in the first place. Why should we spend tax money on something so ridiculous?

Better idea - take the damn guns and give the gun nutters lengthy prison sentences instead.

Aren’t most gun-slinging criminals in DC poor? The government should be able to buy these weapons from them, and maybe the criminals would even kill off some of their own to get the guns for cash. Worth a try.
