Don't underestimate the effect of tailoring everything.

Care for clothes: airing them, hanging or folding them right, frequent appropriate cleaning. Boot inserts to keep the shape.

Good hair and skin products and procedures.

Sufficient sleep, my god.

Looking at pictures from the NY social diary. My observation still holds:

Professional photos look very different than everyday life.
I have some great pro pics. In everyday life I’m less polished.
But i think hair is a huge part of it. Keeping hair groomed makes a big difference.

I have one friend who is wealthy. She does look particularly shiny and put together, I have to admit! She also comes from a culture where there is a lot of pressure on women to look as good as they can possibly look (skin whitening, sun protection, surgery, diet, exercise, lots of beauty products, attention to clothes, make-up, etc). She puts in the work, has the funds, and gets results.

Tailoring is key. As is getting chauffeured everywhere, so you’re never sweaty or windblown. But I agree that you can’t judge by headshots, which are posed and doctored.

I’m in a law firm setting where i have a similar pic and make as much or more than these folks. We don’t look like this in real life. Most people making this money in these jobs is a little rough around the edges in real life. In a good way!

Rich people fat camp. they call it resorts or something but, we all know it is fancy 500 calorie meals in a secluded natural setting and exercise disguised as outdoorsy activities. Lose up to 8-10 pounds in two weeks.

Also, there is no cosmetic procedure that could possibly improve their appearance that they have not pursued.

Looking at bios of McKinsey executives and this is what I mean:

I think it has to do a lot with $$ for good haircuts, high quality clothing, shoes, bags, outer ware, tailoring.
Also time NOT spent cleaning, cooking, any grunt work, but time spent relaxing, resting, taking care of themselves.

They prioritize it and have the money to do it right. I have the money, but no way am I sitting in a salon more than 3 hours a year total. Now massages, I dedicate a lot of time.

I know we all take showers but rich people, men and women, tend to look especially clean and neat.

They are obviously generally slender but how the clothes fit them, they don’t look frumpy but neat and clean. The men have neat short haircuts and the women have straight shiny hair.

I want tips as I always look sloppy!
