We have a vrbo in Rehoboth and our cleaning person does this.
OP how much is she paying you? My spouse literally manages our rental on the app. It’s not that hard or time intensive. I can’t imagine it’s that much you need to worry about taxes.

Yes, we are just starting to look at properties so I want to know all the specifics beforehand. But yes if she loves a particular location then that would be the first priority. She is very flexible as to location at this point but likes the idea of being able to rent it out this way, maybe five weeks a year or so?

Isn't Mom's preferred location for a vacation far more important than an occasional AirBnB? Or is it going to be rented out much more than occasionally?

Did you even read the post? They have someone local to do all that stuff.

OP what exactly would you be doing? Just the online bookings? You don’t need a license for that. Any monkey can do it.

DP. The post says that they "would" hire someone, not that they already have someone. I, for one, value advice from people who have BTDT before making a big financial commitment. These things are never as easy as they seem.

My elderly mom is looking to purchase a vacation home for her family’s use and occasionally renting it out via Airbnb. I would be the one managing the rentals if we rent it out. She says she will pay me to manage the setting up of rentals etc this should it happen. We would hire a local person to manage any repairs and cleaning.
My question for the real estate tax lawyers out there is how best to manage this as I am not a licensed property manager, just a family member. Would this salary be considered a “gift” since it is technically coming from my parents income, and then given to me, or are their states that allow this to be done by a non licensed person (family member in this case) who is not the owner of the property for pay?
She is looking in Long Island, NH and Massachusetts for a property. Thank you for any advice.
