Before bothering w/a diagnosis, know how you feel about being prescribed a mask (CPAP & machine)
This is terrible advice.
Breathe Right strips do nothing for sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a life threatening condition. “How you feel” is pretty much irrelevant. What’s relevant is “what do you need?” There is a huge variety of machines and masks, as well as oral devices that work for some people.
OP, I’d suggest you start with your primary care physician. Describe your symptoms. If others have witnessed you stop breathing be sure to mention that. The physician will likely order a home sleep study, which is no big deal. If that doesn’t persuade your insurance you may need a full study in a sleep lab with all the wires and monitors.
Shop around for your CPAP. I’d have been better off buying for cash than going through the rental rigamarole with my insurance. Working with the insurance vendor may, however, let you actually try on different masks to see which you like best.
