Me too. So disappointing after The Great Believers, too.

I gave up on the book pretty early too. This is validating.

I’m in the middle and having a tough time finishing. This thread is not helping.

What didn't you like about it?

I really enjoyed it and found it very thought provoking. I love the re-examining of the high school events through an adult/2023 lens.

HATED. It was SO LONG and nothing was said. Repeat, repeat, repeat. It made me think of nothing because nothing was said. Nothing happens.

I thought it would be like Prep mixed with a murder mystery but it was a stupid political trope.

I mostly enjoyed it, but agreed that it was WAY too long and repetitive. The middle section really dragged. The stuff happening in her personal life wasn't tied in well enough and didn't ultimately seem to have any impact at all. Her editor should have cut 100 pages easily.

^^ Some people liked it, but I and a few others thought it was pretty disappointing. Her other book, The Great Believers, is much better; Tana French's The Secret Place is a much, much better boarding-school mystery. "Notes on a Silencing" is an amazing memoir on a similar topic to "I Have Some Questions for You."

I haven’t finished it yet but thought “you” was Mr. Bloch.

I don’t think it is part of the book’s mystery. The first chapter refers to Mr Bloch by name and as “you.” It doesn’t make sense in the first few chapters but not too far in Mr. Bloch is established as a character. He is the music teacher. Chapter 5 notes that.

I usually do audio and it’s not usually a problem for me but I can’t figure this out.

Is this part of the books mystery: who is she talking to? Or did i miss something?

Yes, you won't know until the end. It's the entire premise of the book basically.

I mean this for the "you" question. I don't remember the other name, I will have to open the book and take a look again to answer that part.

Thanks, I just started chapter 12 and it’s very heavy on the “you“ and I thought maybe I missed something.
