V true that people have been lying on their resumes for years. Even prominent ones! A certain Spring Valley-based bar owner/restaurateur and self styled political operative comes to mind… the “political” side of that resume is almost entirely embellishments.

Background check companies are wholly useless. They pulled my background and gave me 3 addresses that weren’t mine and never were mine. Same name, guys birthday was like 40 years before mine too

I’m in the process of hiring for a position oriented at someone a few years out of college - early- to mid- 20s, so definitely Gen Z - and every single resume I’ve received and followed up on has at least one easily falsifiable thing. A job they never had, a school they never attended, etc.

I know this town is full of transient charlatans, but I don’t understand how/why anyone thinks they can get away with it these days, given the internet and the ease of checking things with schools and former employers. I’d be interested to hear if this is just something I’m seeing, or if others are, as well.
