As far as I know, I know no one who works more than one job or gets away with doing nothing fully remote. We all have days we are more productive and days where we struggle, but that happened in person too.

That or a Russian troll. The republicans have been trying to make being anti-telework a thing for a while, and we know which party gets their bread buttered by Putin.

Uh yeah, don’t do this with the government. They can actually come after you.

It never was a thing outside of hourly work.

My brother was doing two jobs early in the pandemic, one was hybrid (J1), the other remote (J2). He left J1 and a few months later took one that was remote (J3) - so he was doing two remote jobs. He recently left J2 because they instituted required hybrid. I think he’s dumb because it was a great job. So I think for him remote is the hill he wants to die on - I expect him to look for a new second job. We’ll see if he’s successful.

I was J1,J2, J3 guy. I now have the well paying in person job.

In my first 8 weeks of employment got approached two more firms.

One was a quasi regulator in DC senior mgt role and second a big bank senior mgt. role. Both seemed meeting happy. One was hybrid. I said no thanks. Last year I would have took both if fully remote.

Are employers wising up? Is this fully remote fantasy over?

I mean I was literally Head of Department reporting to CEO at two fully remote companies. Yet I was interviewing, going to doctor appointments, running errands at same time. I got counteroffered on one when I quit. I was like serious?

My main issue is raises, bonus, good reviews, doing extra work is meaningless. Running the clock and getting multiple paychecks is only goal staff. A PIP is a game.

How can fully remote jobs keep this up? How do companies afford the churn? How do companies deal with lazy people, semi retired people SAHMs all pretending to work. students, people contracting, single people partying? Let alone straight up scammers.
