I would maybe go from San Sebastian to Santiago de Compostela. Alternatively Catalonia is nice - Girona, Pals, Figueres. That should be less hot than the south.

Seville is good because it is a southern city and has all the culture, markets, galleries, restaurants etc but is also not far from the beach.

Personally I loved Barcelona and Madrid but that would be a lot more travel.

Barcelona is awful. Maybe a day if you are big Gaudi fan.

It was 110 degrees in Sevilla this week!

All week in fact! Up to 113 degrees. Every year it gets hotter and hotter earlier and earlier.

In august I would go to like, barcelona and San Sebastian.

As others have said, seville, cordoba, etc are all shut down in august due to the heat.

Jose Andres took his adult daughters to Spain for a tv series. He goes city by city and mostly focuses on food but it could be good inspiration. At the very least it’s a fun watch!

If you have to go in August and are sure you want Spain, go to the Basque Country and maybe tack on some of the Camino de Santiago.

I'm not sure how much this still holds, but August in Spain is also the time of the vacaciones, and lots of things (especially in small towns) are closed because everyone goes on vacation.

I’m a big fan of Barcelona, but some people really like the Basque Country in the summer. Others like the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage in NW Spain.

We just came back from visiting both with college age kids. They liked Barcelona but Basque Country is what they want to go back for next time. They loved the peaceful nature, the scenery, and finding ruined castles.

We have 10 days next summer. Our oldest is graduating college. Where would you recommend we visit? I know it will be hot. I was think 5 days of touring and active and then a few days at the end at the beach.
