It’s harmless fun as long as the kids are not doing anything inappropriate. It’s up to parents to make sure everything is good.

Yes. Dangerous. Dare items can end up as sexual assault. Truth questions are generally not benign, but instead are about forbidden activities or inappropriate topics or design to encourage one to pick a “dare” on the next round...

I've told her that people may come up with stupid, unsafe or hurtful things and she doesn't have to do or say anything she doesn't want to.

I feel like that's about all that I can do. If I do hear something that seems inappropriate, I will butt in and tell her/them to pick another game.

What kind of questions or dares are they making up? Is it dangerous?

Younger elementary, sure. Older kids that have been exposed to more would require more of a conversation. But I don’t really expect to be able to control what games they play when they’re hanging out with friends. It’s not like I’m hovering by the door listening to their conversations.

We do not allow this. We also told DC that if cornered by others, always select truth and then proceed to lie.

Lie about what? What would he get asked about that he would need to lie?

It’s both - a game all kids play that can turn into a bad game on a dime.

9 times out of 10, it will be perfectly fine. Do your kids or their friends typically engage in criminal or sexually inappropriate behavior? If not, don’t worry about it.

It just depends on what they are daring each other to do. When we were kids it mostly was about eating things or kissing someone.

Would you allow your elementary kids to play truth or dare with their friends? Is it a bad game or just something all kids do?
