Also, I'd recognize that you are setting up the expectations of how you work from your interviews. By doing the interview, you're letting them know that you'll be available to work whenever they need regardless of whether you're on vacation, or have PTO or whatever. For me, I'd not want to send that message right from the start.

This is a huge red flag. No. You have no say at all in when the interview is?? Either they have a bad culture or they are not that interested. Can you imagine what they will be like once you are there?

If they had said "would really like it to be that week, which days are best?" Or "would Wedn/Thurs be ok" etc, that would be a lot more reasonable.

There is also a package of work I have to complete over the weekend and present during the first portion of the interview. Feels a little red flaggy to me, and definitely not the way I want to start off my vacation with my family.

If it was a job I really wanted, I would absolutely do it from vacation (assuming I had a solid wifi connection).

I would tell them about your vacation and figure out the best time to make it happen that works for both sides. I'd also offer to do it before I left for vacation - that would probably be ideal.

I’d just ask to do it before or after you’re gone. Plenty of people have vacation planned for this time of year. If they like you, they’ll wait the extra few days.

If it is a quick 5-10 minute phone interview and I could be available at the right time without having to re-schedule my vacation, then I would do it. I would not do a long interview or Zoom call or something like that. Just explain that you are on vacation and will be returning on X date and available to meet in person or by Zoom after that time.

I would say you will be on vacation but offer that you could still meet depending on timing/schedule on their end.

If phone/Zoom is OK and your connection is good, then yes, I would do it from vacation.

If you want the job and think they are moving quickly then I would do it. I might mention that I’m on vacation until X date and see if they offer to wait.
Do you have professional clothes to wear and get it together to do the interview?

Can they do it before you leave? I’d let them know your situation and see what their suggestion is.

I wouldn’t just because I am recently very into boundaries at work.

I would do it if I had time and reliable wifi connection.

I got a call back for a second round, but I will be out of the country for 10 days. They seem like they’re in a hurry to move process along. Is it reasonable to ask to reschedule mine until I return? I’m interested but not desperate.
