At least at W-L our experience was that Alg 2 Intensified was a weed-out class. DD who got As in intensified Alg 1 and Geometry in MS had to drop out of it after the 1st quarter along with several others and it was the same situation when DS (2 years older) was a freshman. It was unfortunate because it really killed DD's confidence in math.
What actually killed her confidence was the higher levels of math too soon. If APS and parents would stop pushing the limits on their kids' math, they would steadily progress and not hit that "weeding out" situation.

IF she expects a top-tier school in engineering or other prestigious STEM program.
Calculus in high school is not a pre-requisite for success or for admission to a quality 4-year university.

I need to prepare myself for a meltdown if DD is going to have to re-take geometry because she got a B instead of a B+. Does anybody know if she needs to re-take or if she can go to Algebra 2?
