I don't know that we would be totally opposed to just doing one year at a private, if he gets more on track emotionally and academically, we could see moving him back into public (I know that will strike some people here as insane.). So I don't think that excludes Geneva, and I had no idea SR was co-ed in younger grades. I hear good things about WES - probably the thing that scares me most there is going *and* liking it so much we're trying to figure out how to cough up $35k and up for the next however many years. We have capacity to do what we need right now this year, but staring down the barrel of 8 or 12 more is a little scary (again, I know that many on here that's no big deal.)

Stone Ridge is coed through Kindergarten. But I wouldn't send my kid somewhere that would be for just a year. I'd at least want the option of continuing.

In that case Geneva Day is not a good option bc it goes to K.

Our Lady of Lourdes is a sweet school. Grace Episcopal would be another option.

Yes my kids were there for preschool, and we had a wonderful experience.

I would check at St Barts, Christ Episcopal, Geneva Day, St Elizabeth's, Stone Ridge.

I wasn't impressed with Avalon. We opted to stay public but I liked Holy Cross the best.

The Avalon. It is certainly conservative and with very observant Catholic families but very warm and nurturing. They also have a lot of outdoor time.

Chevy Chase, but can be pretty flexible with range/dropoff/pickup into Bethesda/NWDC, and I suppose outward to Potomac/Rockville if needed.

Where are you located?

Last minute change and looking to go private for K this fall. Background: we expected our son would follow his siblings to public, but end of Pre-K year it's become apparent our MCPS public elementary could be really hard for him (7 classes, high ratio), as he has some challenges with anxiety and the size of that place is enormous. Great for our other kids, but would crush him now. Our preschool has recommended we look into a private, smaller with more attention, but of course it's so late to try to find something. Appreciate any guidance, either schools or if you have had kid in similar situation. We are Catholic btw - not averse to a Catholic school, though we are not especially conservative.
