Loudoun is the place to go at this point. At the very least Republicans usually receive 40% of the vote or more and they have multiple Republican school board members/supervisors.

The Sheriff is also a hardline conservative who makes county liberals angry, I love it.

I'm not opposed to Democrats, it's just that they have basically purged the moderates out of the party.

I'm a Republican and I like Chap. He's actually reasonable and not a crazy far flung liberal . And that's the reason Dems hate him. Not Dem enough and too moderate (gasp!).

Don’t forget brain beat Buta, the most woke of them all. Voted to not prosecute crime in Loudoun. She won by 2 points in 2019, let’s hope republicans who are tough on crime will put her to rest in november.

Totally agree first the progressives screwed up the schools now they are looking to screw up everything. Moved to Fairfax County for good schools. So glad the kids made it through while FCPS was still OK. Will be retiring in a few years and unless Fairfax voters come to their senses will be moving out of the area.

I agree with you. This is not the moderate left-leaning I moved to in 2009. I do think Loudoun has the potential to swing back to the GOP but most of Fairfax is headed the way of San Francisco. Every day I wish we still had Sharon Bulova running Fairfax, she was amazing and led the county through some difficult times. Jeff McKay is worthless and that's why his unknown primary opponent received over 40% of the vote.

Why else has Fairfax County lost population in recent years? Get out while you can.

NoVA has been destroyed? It was still there yesterday. Now it's gone? Just like that? How alarming.

I cannot believe that you all voted against Chap Petersen and George Barker. I mean seriously? People in SD-36 voted for useless SB member Stella Pekarsky and took out normal dem Barker. Barker didn't even do anything that the left would define as "conservative" yet he wasn't woke and annoying so he got the boot.

I do understand that Chap Petersen did things that many on the left deem "conservative" but in all reality Chap was a standard liberal who was essential in building up the Democratic party in Fairfax back in the early 2000's. I think the fact that he gave credibility to Republican viewpoints on Covid restrictions/masks in schools drove the local Dem apparatus absolutely insane and they were going to stop at nothing to defeat him. He literally had a "F" rating from the NRA and was backed by Clean Virginia but apparently him thinking that 5 year olds shouldn't be forced to mask all day in 2022 was a bridge to far.

Steve Descano won simply because of braindead white liberals who read Blue Virginia and convinced themselves that Nuttall was some sort of MAGA Republican. The Asian areas in western Fairfax rejected Descano while the white liberal areas voted for him.

NoVA used to have some amazing Democrats representing the area. They supported gay rights, the environment, and strong schools. They kept crime low and were not partisan hacks who spend all day on social media fear-mongering and yelling.

The reason many people moved to this area was due to the good governance and stable environment. The rise in crime and decline of the public school is sad to see yet it seems like a majority of NoVA voters support it for whatever delusional reason.

I miss the NoVA Dems of 2015 and the sane leadership they had. The Republicans can be nutjobs at times who I wholeheartedly tend to disagree with on certain issues. I voted for all the local Dems in 2019 and didn't think twice about it. I wrongly assumed they would govern like their predecessors.

I feel politically homeless on the local level right now and I am concerned about the direction Fairfax is headed in. Long gone are the days where good governance and moderate politicians ran things up here.

Maybe I am wrong about all of this, I don't know. How does everyone else feel?
